Professional Window Sign Painting Materials

The ORANGE COUNTY SIGN PAINTING WORKSHOPS COMPANY – a Division of Smart Alex Hand-Painted Signs 3rd Semester course gives students hands-on instruction in the traditional materials and specialized tools used for window sign painting with 1 Shot Lettering Enamel. Students learn how these materials are prepared and applied to glass while developing practical skills in traditional lettering and hand-painted graphic techniques.
Exterior Glass Sign Painting Techniques
Students will develop practical experience painting exterior-facing window signs. Instruction introduces students to the process of preparing a window surface, establishing the layout, applying lettering and artwork, and completing the painted design. The training provides an opportunity to practice traditional window sign painting techniques in a hands-on classroom environment.
Traditional Reverse Glass Sign Painting

The course also introduces students to the traditional technique of reverse glass sign painting. Students learn how lettering and artwork are constructed from the back side of the glass so that the finished design can be viewed correctly from the opposite side. This specialized process helps students gain experience with the planning, layering, and application techniques required for reverse-painted glass signs.
Temporary Splash Window Project
As part of the practical coursework, students will create a Temporary Splash Window. This project provides an opportunity to apply window painting techniques to a temporary design while practicing layout, lettering, paint application, spacing, and visual presentation. Students can use the project to further develop their ability to translate a sign concept into a finished window graphic.

The 3rd Semester 8-Week Sign Painting Course continues the training introduced during the required 2nd Semester prerequisite course, held from October 28, 2026 through December 16, 2026. Completing the 2nd Semester provides students with foundational experience that prepares them for more specialized window sign painting instruction.

During the 2nd Semester, students worked with 1 Shot Lettering Enamel and practiced painting on different outdoor sign substrates, including plywood and aluminum. Coursework included Sign Layout & Design, Blending, Convex and Beveled Letters, and Faux Marble techniques.
Students also completed a hands-on 2' x 3' plywood sign project, giving them practical experience that can be carried forward into the 3rd Semester at ORANGE COUNTY SIGN PAINTING WORKSHOPS COMPANY – a Division of Smart Alex Hand-Painted Signs.
