Enrollment Requirement:
Prerequisite 1st Semester
This course covers the tools and materials used to produce outdoor signs with 1shot Lettering Enamel. Students will work on a variety of materials including plywood and aluminum substrates.
Instruction will emphasize Sign Layout & Design, Blending, Convex/Beveled Letters and Faux Marble. Students will produce a 2' x 3' plywood sign for their final project.
Lunch 11:30am-12:15pm.
$800 total for 8-Weeks.

ORANGE COUNTY SIGN PAINTING WORKSHOPS COMPANY by Smart Alex Signs offers advanced traditional sign painting education with Sign Instructor Alex Kurakake – LA Trade Tech Sign Alumni. The 2nd Semester 8-Week Sign Painting Course teaches professional tools, materials, techniques, and methods for creating quality outdoor signs using 1-Shot Lettering Enamel.
Through ORANGE COUNTY PAINTING WORKSHOPS COMPANY, led by Alex Kurakake – LA Trade Tech Sign Alumni, students will learn Sign Layout & Design, Blending, Convex/Beveled Letters, and Faux Marble, then apply these skills to create a 2' x 3' plywood final project.
At ORANGE COUNTY SIGN PAINTING WORKSHOPS COMPANY, students learn traditional sign painting with Alex Kurakake – LA Trade Tech Sign Alumni, practicing on plywood and aluminum before completing a 2' x 3' plywood sign project.
PHOTO: Sign Painting Instructor Alex Kurakake guides students through a variety of lettering styles and alphabets. Students practice proper letterforms, proportions, spacing, and consistency while developing the foundational skills needed to create clean, balanced, and professional hand-painted lettering.

Students of Alex Kurakake at Smart Alex Signs learn how lettering, spacing, proportions, and composition work together to create balanced, professional sign layouts.
Our students practice essential brush strokes, movement, and control using Tempera Paint and Sable Brushes. These hands-on exercises help build the precision and confidence needed for more advanced sign-painting techniques.
Students build confidence in lettering, layout, brush control, and traditional sign painting through hands-on practice.
