With expert guidance from Smart Alex.
This class will focus on the fundamentals of sign painting, tools of the trade, and much more.
No drawing will take place in this class.
For beginners, hobbyists or anybody interested in the craft.
8am-2:30pm with a 45-min lunch break. Lunch not provided.
A fridge is available for anybody who’d like to bring their own lunch.

WORKSHOP STARTS FROM 7AM- 3PM.
Learn the FUNDAMENTALS OF SIGN PAINTING and RULES TO LETTERING AND LAYOUT. Each week, students will BUILD THEIR SKILLS starting from the ABSOLUTE BASICS OF DRAWING LETTERFORMS, to CREATING A CUSTOM HAND-PAINTED SIGNAGE.
Homework will be assigned throughout the week to assist in understanding the lessons taught during the class. No prior experience required. All materials for the class included.
Taught by Alex Kurakake “Smart Alex” and a special guest. LA Trade-Tech alumni.

water gilding class workshop students will participate in creating a two-toned water-gilded sign using traditional methods by hand. all materials will be supplied by the instructors for class use. bring a notebook, pen and pack your own lunch.

I will have a handful of designs to choose from and will go over many different techniques for creating a faux antique sign. This class is a lot of fun and very forgiving if you are worried about your skill level. No drawing or prior skills necessary.
For beginners to advanced, 9am-1pm in person.

The instructor will go over application, materials & where to purchase them, plus different effects for the gold and after care. Everything you need to know to get started gilding on just about any surface!
